Who we are

Planning Defender (“we”, “us”) is operated by David Fowler as a sole trader.

What we collect

To create your objection letter, we ask you for:

• Details of the planning application you’re objecting to
• Any documents or images you choose to upload relating to that application
• Your full name and postal address (required by most councils for a valid comment)
• Your email address (to send you a copy of your finished letter)
• Any free-text concerns or evidence you choose to add
• Payment details, handled entirely by Stripe (see below) — we never see or store your card details

How we use it, and who we share it with

Your application details and documents are sent to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI models we use) to extract information, identify likely planning grounds, and draft your letter, in line with Anthropic’s own privacy and data-use terms.

Payment is processed by Stripe; we only receive confirmation that payment succeeded, not your card details. Your finished letter is sent to you by email via Resend, our email delivery provider.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

At present, the site itself does not maintain a database of your objection — your answers live only in your browser for the duration of your session, and are sent to the third-party processors above solely to generate and deliver your letter. Those processors retain data in line with their own retention policies (for example, Stripe retains payment records for accounting and fraud-prevention purposes as required by law).

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at the address on our Contact page to exercise these rights. You also have the right to complain to the ICO if you believe your data has been mishandled.
